Maruti Suzuki has finally entered the mid-size SUV segment with the all-new Grand Vitara. The new mid-size SUV will be sold through the Nexa dealerships of the brand. The Grand Vitara will be the brand’s most expensive car and the brand is already taking bookings for Rs 11,000. The deliveries are expected to begin by the end of August or in September.

The all-new Grand Vitara looks quite muscular with an aggressive grille at the front and all-LED lights flanking the sleek steel bar. Further, it gets a strong-looking bumper with a diffuser. Even the wheel arches are squared off with thick cladding. The Grand Vitara will offer 17-inch precision-cut alloy wheels. The rear of the new Grand Vitara looks quite interesting with sleek LED split lamps and a LED bar connecting both the tail lamps.

Maruti Suzuki will offer Grand Vitara in two variants. There will be Progressive Smart Hybrid and Intelligent Electric Hybrid. The Progressive Smart Hybrid gets a Rich Chrome finish on the front grille garnish while the Intelligent Electric Hybrid gets a Dark Chrome finish.

The cabin of the all-new Grand Vitara looks very premium. The instrument panel gets bold sweeping elements while the seats get Rich Black faux leather upholstery with champagne gold accents with the Electric Hybrid trim. The Smart Hybrid variant offers Bordeaux faux leather with high luminant silver accents.

The cabin gets a piano black finish while the dashboard gets a 3D set-up. The feature list includes a coloured head-up display that shows turn-by-turn navigation, speed, tachometer, fuel economy, and other important notifications. The new Grand Vitara also offers a 360-degree camera with approaching object detection and dynamic reverse guidelines. The infotainment system consists of a 9.0-inch Smart Play Pro+ infotainment with a wireless charger with overheating protection.

There are over 40 connected features including remote AC operation, vehicle safety and secure location, trip meter, vehicle status and alerts among others. There is Alexa Skill and smartwatch connectivity as well.

The new Grand Vitara offers up to six airbags depending on the variant, Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Assist, 3-point seatbelts, rear disc brakes, hill descent control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system among many other safety features.

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara offers two engine options. The Intelligent Electric Hybrid trim gets a 1.5-litre self-charging strong hybrid powertrain. There are four different modes available with this variant – EV, Eco, Power and Normal. Maruti Suzuki claims that this variant offers best-in-class fuel efficiency of 27.97 km/l. It will offer only an e-CVT.

The Progressive Smart Hybrid trim also gets the 1.5-litre engine with but features like brake energy regeneration, torque assist, and idle start-stop. It is the mild-hybrid version but has improved over the previous offerings. According to the official data, the Progressive Smart Hybrid trim returns a maximum fuel efficiency of 21.11 km/l. The mild-hybrid system offers a five-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

Maruti Suzuki has also added the Suzuki AllGrip AWD technology that will allow the new Grand Vitara to reach extreme locations. There are four modes available in the AllGrip system including – Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock. This is the only AWD vehicle available in the Maruti Suzuki model line-up at the moment.
