The Roll-A-Dome saw more than 80 vendors under the same roof Saturday for the Small Business Fair where hundreds of patrons gathered after pandemic restrictions lifted enough for people to gather once again.

So very many items were on display, including clothing, jewelry, wooden signs, anatomically correct candles (and no I’m not joking), photographs, hair bows, pottery, creams, lotions, make up, essential oils, handmade knitted toys, felt puppets, customized sippy cups and the list goes on.

The Crafty Redhead, Teresa Whyte, is in her third year of making the most adorable vegan faux leather hair bows inspire by her daughter, other accessories and birthday banners.

She just made a huge life change to follow her bliss which is to make a go of her small business and she’s owning it by wearing her product as she sold her wares Saturday morning.

“I just quit my job after 14 years, I’ve got three kids and happiness is just so much more important,” Teresa Whyte said.

“So I had two boys and then I had my girl and I just wanted to find out who I was again and get my crafty out. So I was like ‘I could make my daughter a hair bow’ and it’s been a snowball effect ever since. It’s really an occu-passion. It’s like that for a lot of us out here. You have to love it because you spend hours at home setting it up and marketing it, trying to get your face and your business out there.”

Whyte has created her hair bows that have been kid-tested, she added.

“I tend to stick to high quality material so it’s more durable,” Whyte said.

When it comes down to it for Whyte, it’s all about the small business community supporting one another.

“I have made best friends of these other crafters,” Whyte said. “We team up with each other. I teamed up with All Scrunched Up to offer a mommy-and-me set. We know how much it matters to us to support each other. It’s not just my household that matters it’s for everybody.”

Another vendor was Megan McClymont, of Nomadic Waves Photography, who is a nature photographer with some stunning landscapes images, along with wildlife shots like that of a rare sighting of a linx.

McClymont started exploring in nature in 2019 and knew she could make a go of it as she’s got family members that have pursued their passion and have been successful, she added.

“It’s just a wonderful way to capture the moment,” McClymont said of her photos.

The Small Business Fair is on until 4 p.m. Saturday. Hurry! You can still make it.
