The weather as of late has left us craving spring – thanks storms Dudley, Eunice and Franklin. We wish it was already that time of year where we shrug off our coats and proudly declare we’re ‘too warm’, but it seems we’ll have to wait a little longer for that. The good news is, outerwear has never looked better.

Vinyl coats, also known as patent coats, are particularly having a moment. Adele first had us dreaming of an oxblood-coloured vinyl trench when she released her music video for ‘Oh My God’ in October last year.

More recently, Zoe Kravitz posted an uber-cool snap of herself in Paris prepping for the upcoming release of the new Batman film, dressed in an equally cool vinyl coat. Her whole look was serving Matrix meets high fashion, and we’re here for it.

As well as A-listers taking a shine to the trend, during London Fashion Week shows and streets were scattered with guests dressed in vinyl coats. Not only will the fabric protect you from the wind and rain, but they come in a wide variety of styles, lengths and colours, so you have plenty of choice.
